Planting Trees to protect mountain tops water erosion
The water project in Ayiti is on-going. It started with meeting with the Health Director of Jacmel, Clare, Marie, Sherline, went into a meeting to work on clean water for the people on the other side of the river from the than birth center, Soley Lavi. We addressed the problem that a quarter of the babies die from dirty water and worked along with the health department to get water filters into the houses and also make a basin at the top of the mountain. Which you see the photos above. We are now several years later repairing pipes and also raising funds to get another basin at the top of the mountain for the other side of the mountain.
The erosion issue will be done by being able to get this other basin completed and also planting trees at the top of the mountains, not only for food (mangoes) but to hold the soil, our mamma earth there by the roots of the trees. The trees remember have a heartbeat every three minutes.
Joseph Rousseau is an amazing man who plants the mango seeds and grafts the small trees from a good root stock with branch from the already growing mango to assure fruit. MammaPrimitiva helps by sending money for the supplies needed and the community of Jacmel comes together once again to plant the trees.
